Digital health and mobile health apps have been a hype topic, ever since Apple's App Store began the app-craze in 2008. The initial hype about mHealth has now cooled, which is good news in a way because it shows that mHealth has made the leap from hype to reality. The hype of healthcare apps has since been replaced by other hot topics. So, what is the "next big thing"? We want to have a closer look at chatbots in healthcare. What are these so-called chatbots capable of doing?

After Pandemic Surge, Coding Tool Scratch Is Focused on Supporting Teaching - EdSurge News

#artificialintelligence

As homebound students and teachers looked for online resources during the pandemic, many turned to Scratch, a free coding system for kids developed by the MIT Media Lab. Scratch was already a popular option. It's been around since 2007 as a way to make animations and simple video games by combining Lego-like icons representing different coding functions. But in the 12 months beginning in March 2020--as schools across the country went remote for health reasons--usage spiked, and the number of projects shared on the service rose to 23 million, roughly double the amount from the previous year. Meanwhile the service has been going through some big changes behind the scenes.

The online conference that might change video games for good

Language is a tool, and just like any tool, it has equal capacity to inflict both good and bad on the world. Language is a beautiful, human thing; the connective tissue that transfers culture, knowledge and critical information across borders and generations. It's that second function -- the divisive one -- that inspired developer Rami Ismail and voice actor Sarah Elmaleh to produce a conference for game creators that removes language as a barrier to entry. Gamedev.world is billed as the first truly global online games conference, with plans to host 48 hours of expert panels and live Q&A sessions on Twitch, YouTube and Mixer, translated in real-time into English, Japanese, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Arabic and Simplified Chinese. It's all scheduled to take place later this year. "If games can be played by anyone, and made by anyone, we want to make sure everyone feels like they truly belong here," Ismail told Engadget.
